ABOUT ME
MISS RACHEL BARTLETTI graduated from Shippensburg University in May 2018 with a bachelor's degree in English with Secondary Education certification. I was born and raised in rural Greencastle, Pennsylvania, graduating with my diploma from Greencastle-Antrim High School in 2015. I grew up with two loving parents and an older brother. I enjoy reading, writing poetry, cooking, and knitting in my free moments and spending time with friends, family, and my three cats.
As a teacher and an individual, I value good conversation and networking with other people. In the classroom, I think it is vitally important for students to utilize one another in solving any problems before coming to me for help or the answer. This allows students to prepare themselves for working in groups and collaborating with others in the future, so we are getting a head start on that skill right now in school. Our classroom is a community where everyone's opinions and voices will be heard and valued, and the most important way to establish this relationship is through effective communication. Novels I've read so far during the Summer of 2018: Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King Orphan #8 by Kim Van Alkemade Ladder of Years by Anne Tyler |
MY CORE BELIEFS IN THE CLASSROOM
I have a few core beliefs in regards to how I manage my classroom and the expectations I hold for the students who enter through the door. Each of these are explained in more detail below, and I encourage you to take the time to read through them as you'll better understand my position on some important aspects of modern-day education.
LEARNING & TEACHING

DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION
This concept is crucial to a successful classroom because it takes the view of the students from a group to individuals. The idea of differentiated instruction showcases the different approaches we, as teachers, should take with instruction, activities, and assessment. Differentiated instruction leads into the recognition of multiple intelligences (which was described above). As a teacher, I am able to differentiate the content I bring to the students, the way I present the content to them, and the products I have them create through activities and assessments. This method of differentiated instruction meets each student where he/she is, fulfilling their educational needs and desires. This becomes an individualized process by taking into account the student's abilities, interests, and learning strengths.
